Ossian :
Ossian city is nearly 65Kms from Jodhpur. The main attractions
of this city are its temples that have gracefully stood and
faces the generation since 775A.D. Ossian holds a great
significance for the Jain community. This is so because the
Oswal Jains (a rich trading community) came from Ossian. Thus
deriving their name from this town. Although majority of the
temples at Ossian have decayed with time and have even lost
images of their deities- the one temple that remains vibrant is
the shrine of Sachiyamata on a nearby hillock, built in 1234 AD. |

Kaylana
Lake :
Kaylana Lake is located 8 kms to the west of Jodhpur on the
Jaisalmer road. The Kaylana Lake in Jodhpur was constructed by
Pratap Singh, the erstwhile Prime Minister of Jodhpur in 1872.
This artificial lake is spread over 84 square kms. Where the
lake now lies, was once an area having palaces and gardens of
two rulers of Jodhpur. The Kaylana Lake is a perfect spot for
picnickers to enjoy a relaxed time. Moreover, the spot offers
some excellent views of the setting sun, something that brings
in a fair share of visitors to the lake site. |

Jaswant
Sagar Dam :
Situates in Pichiyak village between Bilara and Bhavi of Jodhpur
district, Jaswant Sagar Dam was constructed in 1892, by Maharaja
Jaswant Singh. The greenest part of Jodhpur receives water from
this dam. For tourists who love boating or wading in water, come
to visit the dam and avail boat rides. Also, a visit to the
Jaswant Sagar Dam will serve as an educational trip for the
children. |

Machia
Safari Park Jodhpur :
The Machiya Safari Park lies on the way to Jaisalmer. It is
about 1km from Kaylana Lake. It is a must see place for those
interested in wildlife. The main fauna of the Machiya Safari
Park of Jodhpur, Rajasthan includes, deer, desert fox, monitor
lizard, blue bulls rabbits, wild cats, mongoose, monkeys, etc.
There is also an exclusive bird watching point from where you
can see a large number of birds. Thus, serving as a good place
for bird watchers too. |

Bishnoi
Village :
A deviation from the historical elements of the town is the tour
of the Bishnoi Villages like the GudasIt is the perfect place to
experience the traditions and customs of tribal life. It is a
place caught in a delightful time warp, where life still goes on
like the days of the past. Bishnoi, Salawas and Khejadali
villages situated close to the Bishnoi Lake. The inhabitants of
Guda Bishnoi Village follow the tenets preached by their
religious leader Jambaji. They pray to Lord Vishnu and bury
their dead to demonstrate their faith in secular existence as
advocated by their guru. |
